Bohemian A Weirdo Rhapsody

THE way, way out performers from the Lovelorn Living Party are about to unleash a new chapter in their exploration of love.
Lovelorn's cabaret, The Bohemian Non-Linear Guide to Love, opens at the Royal Exchange, in Bolton Street, Newcastle, on August 9.A follow-up to Signor Piggy Wigg's Bohemian Love Theatre, the major event of last year's Livesites Street Performers Festival, it features a mix of old and new acts. The bill includes the Bengali Brothers, Casio Gloria, For the Love of Pasha, Barry's Bag II, The World Pillow Fighting Federation, Lord Lorquatious Presents, Dizzy Lullaby, The Rabbified Roo and what the promoters refer to as "many other features of outrageous content and extravagant talents".They also promise music, madness, mischief and mayhem and that, too, given the kooky nature of many of the alternative acts schooled by Lovelorn, is likely to be delivered. The audience can also look forward to becoming involved in the show, although the intimate nature of the Royal Exchange probably means that the audience role won't be on the scale of the 250-person toothbrushing event that was used in the Bohemian Love Theatre to get the crowd to brighten their smiles. The Bohemian Non-Linear Guide to Love can be seen on Saturday and Sunday from August 9 to 17, with the fun starting at 7.30pm. Tickets are $15, with a $10 concession rate for those who come in costume. But be warned: "costume" doesn't mean an extra scarf or two. It has to be really kooky.Phone 4929 4969 for bookings.
